The past two weeks we have been doing some camping. First we went to Kelley Canyon and did a little camping, not much to speak of there. Over the past weekend we went to Palisades. There is a base camp and about 4 miles from the base camp there is the Palisades Lower Lake. 3 miles above that, there is the Palisades Upper Lake. These lakes were formed a while back from some landslides that dammed up the river. It was an awesome, but long, hike. A total of fifteen miles round trip!! We were worn out afterwards. It was some of the coolest things I have seen in my time in Idaho yet. We saw a Mountain Goat hanging around the side of a sheer cliff. Supposedly they are really rare to see, I read that a guy has been on the Palisades hike over 100 times and only seen a Goat 4 times. It was really cool to see him running around a cliff. We saw a pack of Moose and a bunch of snakes. The lakes were a sight, but the water was a bit too cold to swim in (even though I did...Spring was a bit intimidated by the water). After the hike, I slept for 13 straight hours. Spring decided to wear her chacos (sandals) on the hike...lets just say her feet were rubbed a bit raw. Here are some pics from the HIKE!!!! Later my sweet baby followers.
This is a pic of the river we followed almost the whole way up.
Here is us at the lower lake. If you see the mountain in the background that is smaller, the upper lake is on the other side of that.
Here is a pic of when we were coming down from the Upper Lake, it was all beautiful.
Here we are, just about to leave the upper lake. It is a huge lake, well worth the 7 miles up!
Here is Marty. We were about 20 feet from him.
Here is the goat we named Zach. (only cuz he looked like he had a comb over) It was cool to see him running and jumping. Our crappy camera couldn't get very good pics.
